Province announces new deputy minister for Manitoba Infrastructure
Manitoba Infrastructure saw its deputy minister changed in a sweeping shuffle of deputies on September 9. Sarah Thiele, previously an assistant deputy minister in the Department of Families, moves to the deputy’s post at MI.
“We welcome Ms. Thiele and hope to meet and speak with her soon,” MHCA President Chris Lorenc said.
Tareq Al-Zabet was appointed special advisor in MI for the Lake Manitoba/Lake St. Martin outlet channels project. The outlet channels project is awaiting the green light, subject to completion of consultation with a number of First Nations governments in the area.
“The industry very much appreciates having worked with Tareq Al-Zabet,” Lorenc said. “He very quickly comprehended the issues facing infrastructure in Manitoba and he will be a real asset to the complexities of the outlet channels file.”
MHCA met with Infrastructure Minister Ron Schuler today, in an early pre-budget consultation, outlining the priorities for budget planning and investment strategy.
