MI awarding contracts by section

July 30th, 2020

Notice from Manitoba Infrastructure

Manitoba Infrastructure has revised Spec 90 – Bidding Procedures for construction contracts to clarify the partial award of contracts by section.

In the event that a bid for a section exceeds the approved budget for that section, MI may award the contract, in part, for the remaining sections that are within budget.

This approach to award has already been employed on some bid opportunities in 2020. This clarification in MI’s Bidding Procedures is to ensure that MI project sections that remain within budget may proceed under contract without delay while the department seeks further direction from government on any over-budget sections.

Contractors are strongly encouraged to bid contract sections accordingly.
