Construction has remobilized on the Concord Sky condo building at Yonge and Gerrard in downtown Toronto. At 299 m (980 ft) tall, it will be the country’s second-tallest residential tower and fourth-tallest overall structure.
In partnership with developer Concord, KPF Architects set out to redefine the modern skyscraper, including expansive glass panels and angular design in the condo’s plan. The firm is known for its work on some of the world’s tallest buildings, including One Vanderbilt in New York City and Lotte World Tower in Seoul, South Korea.
Concord’s BioSpace systems will offer improved airflow, filtration, and UV sanitization throughout the building. It will also be outfitted with 11 high-speed residential elevators, featuring a mobile elevator e-call setup for better traffic flow.
Additionally, Concord Sky will incorporate smart technologies, including touchless mobile access to major entry points and high-traffic common areas; smart parcel pickup, allowing automated package delivery, notification, and distribution; and high-speed WiFi in the building’s amenity areas.
Once complete, the condo will house 1100 residential units.
